This is the first edited draft of the title cover artwork which is meant to inform the audience on what number certain tracks are, and also what the tracks are called, the back of a CD cover is just as important as the as the original cover, basically due to the fact when people are browsing around CDs they first look at the front, turn the CD over and then look at the back of the CD, it's understandably random why people do this, however i feel the back of the CD cover is designed for the audience to feel closer to the artist and the artists music, therefore i have designed and edited some drafts of some CD covers and i will now explain what aims i wanted to get and eventually which one I will use and which one i like the most.
This was the first back cover which i created, i wanted to create a contrast and a sharp difference between the front cover and the back cover, i feel it makes the product as a whole just seems a lot more interesting and gives it more depth.
This is the second draft of the backing CD cover which is an edited version of the first draft, i haven't changed much, apart from i have included the name of the production company in the bottom left corner of the product. This i feel is still not enough as on many digi-packs which include DVD footage they include the DVD logo and also i realised i need a bar code also. These are absolutely compulsory for the product to look like a CD backing cover.

I wanted to use a close up of the branches as i want the audience to feel like by looking and being interested in this artists music, you are becoming closer and closer to him personally, whether it be, you're getting closer to his personal roots or just to his music, i wanted to make the audience feel they're close to this artist.
I chose to fill the branches in white, as i thought it created strong contrast between this back cover and the front cover and i also wanted it to reflect the name of the title as it's named 'Eskimo' i wanted to connote that name, which i did by replicating the look of snow on the branches. I also absolutely love the colour of the sky in the background, i feel it reflects how peacefully and free the artists music is.
The font i used is a totally different font to which i used on the front cover, conventionally the marketing company will use the same font for the advertisement campaign for the artist however, i didn't want to do this as i feel with using the same font, as my font was quite plain, stripped back and simple anyway it would have made the album tedious and boring for the audience to read, therefore i also made it slightly more interesting by making songs different sizes, it's also more interesting and makes the audience want to read the title-list more then if it were just plain Arial text, which they've seen on the advertisement campaigns and the front cover, it gets very boring.
One problem with this back cover, is there is no conventions used which are absolutely compulsory such as the logo of the production company which produced the album, even the name of the manager of the artist which is usually printed on the back cover of highly successful musical artists.

This is my final edit of my CD back cover, i have edited in the must-have-conventions which make it look like an actual CD backing cover. I have make the logos appear see-through so you it does not just look like i have copied and pasted the logos, and it does look a lot more professional.
I haven't changed anything else nor am i going to write the name of the manager who manages the artist as Damien Rice himself isn't necessarily well known and marketed at a specific audience nor do i see a lot of his advertisement campaigns either therefore as he is not a pop artist i do not expect to see all of these techniques used to be used upon a singer/songwriter artist such as Damien Rice nor my made up artist Jonathan Brendan.
